About The Position

Direct Support Professionals assist individuals in working toward personal goals and tailored outcomes. Supports may include meal preparation, community outings, personal hygiene, shopping, cleaning, appointments, medication administration, and other daily needs. Staff must be comfortable providing personal care and medical supports and responding to interfering behaviors.

The role serves individuals in cities across Northern Minnesota, including Burtrum, Little Falls, Royalton, Fort Ripley, Rice, and Swanville. A variety of part-time and full-time schedules are available on weekdays and weekends. The wage is $16.50 per hour, with benefits based on the schedule.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old to support Adult Programs.
• Be at least 21 years old to support Youth Programs.
• Be proficient in spoken and written English.
• Have a vehicle available for work-related purposes and current car insurance.
• Have an acceptable driving record as determined by Meridian Services policy.
• Have a Wi-Fi-enabled device for work-related purposes.
• Successfully clear a Department of Human Services (DHS) Background Study.
• Be comfortable providing personal care, including bathroom supports, bathing or showering, and medication administration.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or a mental health diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Work with each person in the home on tailored outcomes, which may include budgeting, behavioral management, community exploration, meal planning, organizational skills, coping skills, and physical fitness.
• Actively participate with individuals while working on outcomes and during community activities.
• Assist with personal care as needed.
• Provide guidance and instructional teaching to build life skills.
• Provide cleaning, cooking, and medication administration for individuals living at the home.
• Provide supervision and transportation in the community for activities and appointments; a company vehicle is typically available, though personal vehicle use may sometimes be required.
