About The Position

YCS is hiring a Residential Assistant/Caregiver at Laurie Haven Psychiatric Children's Home in Edison, New Jersey. Laurie Haven is an intermediate-term residential facility for boys and girls ages 6–13 who have behavioral challenges and mental health disorders.

Residential Assistants provide positive support, caring assistance, and responsible supervision. The role calls for sensitivity in recognizing and appropriately responding to clients who may have evidenced difficulties. Residential Assistants participate in the therapeutic treatment process, become familiar with residents’ treatment goals, carry out interventions, observe and document progress, and identify current or potential therapeutic goals for the treatment team.

Requirements

• Three years of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting with a bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of a therapeutic treatment team.
• Become familiar with residents’ treatment goals.
• Carry out expected interventions.
• Observe and document success.
• Identify current therapeutic goals or suggest new goals that may require attention by the treatment team.
• Provide positive support, caring assistance, and responsible supervision to residents.
