About The Position

Direct Support Professionals' responsibilities include supervising and teaching learners as assigned at work, volunteer sites, the community, and in our center, collecting and graphing data to ensure progress is being made, managing problem behavior, and contributing to the overall development of instructional and treatment programs. Services will be provided either on-site, in-home or through distance learning, or any combination therefore, as determined by the administration.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid NJ driver’s license
  • Be of good moral character
  • Ability to successfully complete the Alpine Learning Group Autism Services, Inc. training program
  • Good communication skills
  • Facility with educational technology (e.g., tablets, computers)
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and needs
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Punctual daily attendance
  • Compliance with Federal, State and DDD requirements, including, but not limited to, Criminal History, Motor Vehicle Review, Citizenship Status and Central Registry Review, drug testing for controlled, dangerous substances as a condition of employment, as well as possible random testing while employed based on a randomization process provided by DHS and the DHS vendor.

Responsibilities

  • Implements instructional programs, including providing job coaching at Supported Employment/Volunteer sites. Teaches procedures including, but not limited to, discrete trial learning, chaining, prompting (e.g., modeling, manual guidance, verbal), incidental teaching, and systematic desensitization.
  • Implement behavior reduction treatment program.
  • Collects, summarizes, and reports data.
  • Supervises assigned learners throughout the day.
  • Contributes to development of instructional and treatment programs.
  • Reports emergencies and injuries as per ALG policies and procedures.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training sessions (including crisis intervention).
  • Recommends materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Carries out other duties as may be requested by the Clinical Supervisors, Director of Adult & Transition Services, or the Executive Director.
