About The Position

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are sought by Community Access Services (CAS) to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in reaching personal goals and enjoying greater independence in a residential setting. CAS provides paid training, ongoing guidance, and opportunities to develop skills and advance within the organization. The role involves helping individuals with everyday activities while encouraging independence, choice, and participation in the community.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to successfully complete a national background check
  • Ability to qualify as an approved company driver
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and provide mobility assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous DSP experience is welcome
  • Previous experience in caregiving, healthcare, behavioral health, childcare, or human services is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Developing respectful and supportive relationships with individuals receiving services
  • Assisting with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal care, hygiene, and household responsibilities
  • Providing support during community activities, appointments, recreation, and other outings
  • Helping individuals work toward personal goals and develop everyday skills
  • Administering medications and maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Helping maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable residential environment
  • Respecting and advocating for each person's choices, dignity, preferences, and well-being
