About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to join their team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in their Group Homes. DSPs are direct care professionals responsible for assisting residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in meeting their personal health, safety, and welfare needs. This includes assisting with personal care, participating in household activities like cleaning and cooking, and supporting life skills development. The role also involves medication administration, effective communication with supervisors and colleagues, driving residents to appointments and community activities, and daily documentation of services provided. The position offers opportunities to assist with fun community-based activities.

Requirements

  • Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined and announced in advance).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
  • Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
  • Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
  • Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
  • Provide daily documentation of services provided.
  • Assist with community-based activities.
