About The Position
Wall Residences is seeking a part-time, experienced Direct Support Professional for its In-Home Care services in the Floyd, Virginia area. The role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and helps them build meaningful relationships, participate in enjoyable activities, and engage with their community. The scheduled hours are Tuesday 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m.–3 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The Direct Support Professional assists with domestic tasks, personal care, community activities, transportation, advocacy for medical and dental appointments, and medication administration. The position requires detail-oriented documentation to support continuity of quality care. Hiring is contingent on references and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes. Employees are mandated reporters of abuse and neglect for individuals with disabilities.
Requirements
- Experienced Direct Support Professional.
- Active driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- At least 3 years of driving experience.
- No more than 2 moving violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
- No major violations within the past 5 years.
- References and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes are required for hiring.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with laundry, cleaning, meal planning, cooking, and organizing.
- Help individuals explore volunteer opportunities and enrich their lives.
- Support individuals' personal care needs.
- Provide transportation and advocacy for medical and dental appointments.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Keep accurate notes to ensure continuity of quality care.
- Report suspected abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter.
