Direct Support Professional - Caregiver
About The Position
Homes for Independent Living (HIL) is hiring a Caregiver to assist 1–4 adults with behavioral, medical, and/or physical disabilities in a residential home setting. The role includes keeping clients safe, helping with daily tasks, providing positive behavioral support, and chaperoning enjoyable activities. Training is provided. HIL is Wisconsin’s largest provider of customized care for adults with disabilities in small residential settings. Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have compassion for client care and well-being.
- Be able to prioritize multiple duties and responsibilities.
- Consent to a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Driver’s license with three years of a clean driving record; preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assure the health, safety, and well-being of all clients.
- Provide positive behavioral redirection and encourage clients to use self-coping mechanisms.
- Assist with activities of daily living as needed according to care plans.
- Assist with food preparation and cleaning as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, guardians, and staff.
- Complete daily logs and report inconsistencies.
- Chaperone clients at activities and events.
Benefits
- Competitive hourly pay of $15.00–$18.00, with pay based on experience, location, and shift.
- Shift differential: an extra $1.00 per hour on second shift and $2.00 per hour on weekends.
- Set schedules with guaranteed hours and the ability to pick up overtime.
