About The Position
Redwood Family Care Network is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered home and community-based support to adults with physical and developmental disabilities in Laguna Beach, California. The role supports individuals’ health, safety, daily routines, personal care, and goals in positive and life-enriching environments. The organization takes a zero-tolerance stance on abuse and neglect and reports allegations to the proper authorities. This position is available part-time or full-time, with shifts Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., or Saturday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The hourly rate is $18.00–$20.00, and the posting offers a $500 sign-on bonus. New hires must attend in-person orientation in Santa Ana on Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Applicants are subject to a background check and other pre-employment requirements.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, including crisis management, behavior management, and ABA.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- First Aid and CPR.
- Successfully pass pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Available for in-person new-hire orientation Monday and Wednesday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., in Santa Ana.
Nice To Haves
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification; preferred, or willing to obtain within the first six months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Outline and prepare clients’ daily visual and active routines as written in their Individual Program Plans.
- Support residents’ needs and goals by participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients.
- Take clients to visit family and friends and to preferred leisure and recreation activities, and encourage socializing with peers.
- Assist with personal care, including grooming, bathroom needs, changing undergarments or clothing, and other activities of daily living.
- Assist with dietary needs, bathing, and dressing.
- Prepare daily meals and assist with cleanup.
- Transport clients in a personal vehicle when needed; mileage is reimbursed.
- Report incidents or problems and communicate daily with administrators.
- Perform other assigned duties.
