About The Position

Venture Community Services is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to advocate for and support adults age 22 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role empowers individuals to be as active as possible in their own lives and communities, supporting personal care and daily living needs such as household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing. The DSP may also assist with medical appointments, banking, community participation, outings, medication administration, Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and applicable medical guidelines.

DSPs receive paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, Medication Administration Program (MAP), and program- and person-specific training at the individual's home. The employee must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency, maintain certifications, and perform job duties in compliance with agency policies and DDS regulations and policies.

The listed schedule is Sunday 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 4 p.m.–9 p.m., Wednesday 2 p.m.–11 p.m., Thursday 1 p.m.–11 p.m., and Friday 2 p.m.–11 p.m. The full-time schedule is 40 hours per week. Pay is $17.50–$19.00 per hour, with paid training. A sign-on bonus is offered: $1,000 for full-time employees and $500 for part-time employees.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Speak, read, and write fluent English.
• Be willing to work a flexible schedule based on program and individual needs, which may include holidays, overnights, or double shifts.
• Demonstrate commitment to helping people with varying disabilities participate fully in their communities and lives.
• Have varied interests and personal connections in the local community.

• Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and support adults age 22 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to participate actively in their lives.
• Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing.
• Assist individuals with medical appointments, banking, community participation, and outings as needed.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and medical guidelines.
• Safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency.
• Maintain required certifications and follow agency policies and DDS regulations and policies.
