About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role involves providing essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving settings such as group homes, assisted living, or nursing homes, and possess the skills necessary to assist clients with daily living activities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in caregiving roles, particularly in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with working with individuals with autism, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other developmental disabilities is a plus.
  • Skills in patient observation and monitoring are essential for recognizing changes in client conditions.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for patient mobility support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and overall health status, ensuring adherence to care plans.
  • Assist with meal preparation and cooking, accommodating dietary restrictions as needed.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and organization of shared spaces.
  • Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the clients' overall well-being.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
