About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Residential position is responsible for training, coaching, and supporting individuals to promote their independence and help them learn new skills. This role involves ensuring consistent implementation of resident programming, providing transportation, maintaining residences, supervising medication administration, and assisting with medical appointments. The DSP will also be responsible for appropriate record-keeping and reporting, attending meetings, and ensuring resident hygiene and appropriate attire. In emergency situations, staff may be required to perform duties beyond the standard job description to ensure client safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year in human services or health care required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems
  • Clean criminal, motor vehicle and Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services background checks
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 100,000/300,000 liability insurance
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or in a group setting
  • Strong emphasis on Customer Service skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to individualize the supports needed for the individuals we serve
  • Ability to work with a variety of the individuals we serve on a daily basis
  • Ability to successfully complete the MOAB 1 and 2 trainings
  • Ability to successfully complete medication training if applicable
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and daily assignments
  • Adherence to NH state law requiring mandated reporting of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Maintenance of criminal, motor vehicle, DCYF, OIG, and Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services record checks that meet agency standards.

Responsibilities

  • Remaining on shift until adequate coverage is provided.
  • Consistent implementation of resident programming training (Service Agreement Goals & Objectives: daily living skills, community access).
  • Provide transportation for residents in approved vehicles; may be required to use own vehicle in emergencies.
  • Meeting all Residential Standards and Regulations.
  • Participating in the development of resident’s programs (Service Agreements, Behavior Programs, Strategies, Client Centered Conferences).
  • Aiding in the general upkeep of residence, furnishings and equipment (yard work, cleaning, laundry, housekeeping).
  • Supervision of residents’ self-administration and/or distribution and administration of prescribed medications (upon successful completion of training).
  • Supervision of residents’ medical/evaluative appointments and accompaniment to such appointments.
  • Appropriate record keeping and report writing (Daily Log, Goal and Objective documentation, Significant Event Reports, Accident Reports, Behavior Programs, filing).
  • Attending required meetings.
  • Reporting any pertinent client incidents/inconsistencies from routine.
  • Completing and implementing behavior management programs and documenting interventions.
  • Ensuring resident hygiene and appropriate attire.
  • Other duties as assigned by House Manager.
