About The Position

The Arc of Ocean County is hiring Full-Time Evening Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout our Residential Services programs. We'll provide paid training and ongoing support to help you learn the role. You'll gain hands-on experience assisting individuals with everyday life, supporting greater independence, and becoming part of a professional residential team. This position can be the beginning of a career path toward opportunities such as Assistant Manager and Group Home Manager.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated employment stability, including at least one year with a previous employer, is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide support with personal care, meals, medication, household responsibilities, transportation, and other evening needs.
Encourage individuals to participate in routines and complete tasks as independently as possible.
Help individuals develop practical skills that strengthen confidence, personal responsibility, and independence.
Support participation in recreational activities, shopping trips, community outings, and other social experiences.
Encourage individuals as they work toward goals identified within their individualized service plans.
Recognize accomplishments and provide encouragement as individuals develop new abilities.
Respect individual preferences and promote opportunities for choice and self-direction.
Help maintain residential environments that are clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming.
Treat each individual with dignity while providing person-centered support.
Encourage healthy routines and contribute to an environment that promotes inclusion, growth, and respect.
Help create consistency so individuals can feel comfortable and supported in their homes.
Work alongside Residential Services employees to provide consistent support throughout the program.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding individual needs and important updates.
Follow agency policies, medication procedures, and established safety practices.
Complete electronic documentation, daily service notes, and required program records accurately and on time.
