The Direct Support Professional provides supervision and guidance to the individuals with disabilities who reside in the group home by performing a variety of tasks in the areas of personal care, medication management, and crisis management. This role requires a commitment to the agency's mission and vision, ensuring the implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and accurate documentation. The position involves assisting individuals with personal care, housekeeping duties, and community integration, while also acting as a role model and advocate. A willingness to learn and utilize computers for documentation and training is essential. The role also includes responsible medication administration and adherence to confidentiality ethics. The employee will support individuals with intellectual disabilities and potential co-occurring mental health disorders, which may present challenging behaviors. Occasional exposure to individuals with potential communicable diseases may occur.
