Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD! Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work 12-hour weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday, 8 AM – 8 PM)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, empathetic demeanor
- Must pass background check and meet state DSP requirements in Maryland
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
- Implement individualized support plans and document progress accurately
- Facilitate community integration and recreational activities during weekend shifts
- Administer medications and monitor health needs in accordance with care plans
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for all residents
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and family members regarding client well-being
