About The Position

Behavioral Health Allies (BHA) is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals live more independently, build skills, and participate in their communities. DSPs provide hands-on support and supervision to individuals living in Community Living homes, assisting with daily routines, personal care, community activities, behavioral support, and skill development. This role involves working closely with managers and the clinical team to implement individualized support plans and behavior support strategies, offering the chance to build meaningful relationships and make a direct impact.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid and active Missouri Class E Driver's license, or equivalent
  • Ability to work with individuals who may have complex behavioral, developmental, or medical needs
  • Ability to follow written plans and verbal instructions
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Basic documentation and computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in direct support, residential services, behavioral health, healthcare, or a related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision and meaningful engagement throughout the shift
  • Support individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, dressing, meals, mobility, and other personal care needs
  • Support individuals with community outings, appointments, recreation, and other activities
  • Encourage independence and help individuals develop daily living and social skills
  • Implement Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) as written
  • Use ABA-based strategies and evidence-based practices to support positive behavior and skill development
  • Administer medications after completing required training
  • Drive individuals to appointments, outings, and community activities as needed
  • Observe and report changes in health, behavior, or other concerns
  • Complete required documentation, daily logs, medication records, and incident reports accurately and on time
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary home environment
  • Prepare and provide meals according to individual care plans and dietary guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with DSP teammates, supervisors, managers, and clinical staff
  • Participate in training, coaching, and feedback to continue developing your skills
  • Respond calmly and appropriately during challenging situations and follow safety and crisis procedures
