About The Position
Join Devereux Children Services for our Walk-In Wednesday hiring event for Direct Support Professional (DSP) openings. This event offers on-the-spot interviews. The role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in care, participating in daily activities to encourage growth and independence, addressing and redirecting behaviors, and implementing individualized treatment plan goals. Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric challenges. Services include psychiatric residential treatment, acute inpatient psychiatric care, assessment services, community-based mental health services, employment training, social skills training, and educational services for individuals aged 6-21.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work.
- Education Evaluation required if education was acquired outside the U.S.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
- Prior experience working with children in behavioral health is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and maintain the well-being of the individuals in your care at all times.
- Participate in daily ADLs, recreational, and social activities to encourage growth, confidence, and independence.
- Address and appropriately redirect inappropriate behaviors, reinforcing positive actions through supportive communication.
- Implement individualized treatment plan goals and objectives, working collaboratively with the clinical team to support each person’s development.
