About The Position
Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services, is seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to join our team as Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at our Lincoln Park group home supporting individuals with disabilities. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals live meaningful, independent lives while ensuring their safety and well-being during afternoon hours. Our Mission is to achieve full societal participation for all people with disabilities.
Requirements
- Must be 20 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass state & federal criminal background checks
- Ability to pass drug screening
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and PPD
- Willingness to complete all required orientation and training
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
- Assist and teach skills related to daily living (cooking, housekeeping, hygiene).
- Assist and teach skills related to health and wellness (medication support, healthy living).
- Assist and teach skills related to community involvement (shopping, recreation, transportation).
- Assist and teach skills related to social development (communication, coping skills, friendships).
- Assist and teach skills related to budgeting and money management.
- Promote independence, dignity, and choice.
- Help individuals build confidence, life skills, and autonomy.
