Direct Support Professional - Female DBT Programs
About The Position
Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island is seeking Direct Support Professionals for its female DBT Programs in Rutland, MA. This human services agency focuses on helping children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders. The programs serve females aged 12-21 with diagnoses including Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Disruptive Behavior Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and features of Borderline Personality Disorder. Clients may have a range of cognitive functioning. All programs utilize a DBT clinical model, emphasizing interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. The role involves direct supervision, therapeutic interventions, teaching Activities of Daily Living skills, and documentation.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to attend a 2-week paid orientation, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM, in Rutland, MA.
- Must be MAPS certified, or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders preferred.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.
- Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
- Engage with youth in a meaningful and positive manner, teaching and prompting appropriate behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement for the same.
- Teach and assist with Activities of Daily (ADL) Living Skills.
- Possess adequate organizational and communication skills needed to complete required documentation, such as progress notes and incident reports.
