At MHMR Concho Valley, the mission is “Working together to help people help themselves.” The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will provide supervision and care to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis under the direction of the Crisis Respite Supervisor. Respite staff will apply crisis intervention principles as appropriate throughout their shifts and are responsible for preparing necessary documentation. The DSP will conduct intake screenings for admission to Crisis Respite and will engage clients at Respite in a trauma informed care way. The DSP will also provide virtual mental health triage screenings as needed for law enforcement drop offs to the facility. DSP I is required to attend meetings and training programs relevant to the position. DSP will provide PRN coverage for the Crisis Diversion Center. MHMR Concho Valley is a trauma informed organization dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, calm, and secure environment with supportive care, a system-wide understanding of trauma prevalence and impact, recovery and trauma specific services, and recovery-focused, consumer-driven services that applies to all staff, volunteers, contracted providers, and community partners. MHMR Concho Valley has made an implicit commitment to prevent and reduce suicide deaths among individuals served by the Center through applying the elements of safer suicide care outlined the Zero Suicide Framework (lead, train, identify, engage, treat, transition, improve).
