About The Position

The Arc of Greater Prince William / INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join its Residential Services team at a group home. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the DSP provides direct care and support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The role supports activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, personal choice, and community inclusion. Services are provided in accordance with Individual Support Plans (ISPs), DBHDS requirements, and organizational policies.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position scheduled for 32 hours per week: Friday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The posting lists Woodbridge, Virginia, as the location and also refers to a group home in Manassas, Virginia. Starting pay is $18.70 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable three-year driving record.
• Ability to safely operate an organizational vehicle, including a medium-sized bus and/or van.
• Ability to successfully complete required criminal background checks and health screenings.
• Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Medication Administration Training (MAT), if applicable.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems, including THERAP.
• Ability to assist individuals with personal care, hygiene, and medical needs with dignity and respect.
• Compassion, patience, sound judgment, professionalism, and commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to pass required trainings.
• Reliable transportation.
• Flexibility and a positive attitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; perform CPR, First Aid, and AED; stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach; climb stairs; navigate residential and community environments safely; and operate an organizational vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered direct care and support based on each individual's ISP and identified goals.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, and household responsibilities.
• Promote independence, personal choice, community involvement, and meaningful participation.
• Provide safe and reliable transportation to day programs, medical appointments, and community activities.
• Plan and participate in recreational, leisure, community, and skill-building activities.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and Medication Administration Training requirements when certified.
• Follow behavior support plans and approved crisis-intervention procedures.
• Accurately complete required documentation, data collection, and progress notes in THERAP.
• Maintain individuals' privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and Human Rights.
• Immediately report incidents, injuries, unusual occurrences, and suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality and participate in required meetings and training.
