About The Position
Grow Developmental Disability Solutions is seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities. This role involves providing one-on-one support to individuals, assisting them in living more independent and fulfilling lives. As a person-centered agency, we focus on respect, dignity, and creating plans tailored to each individual's goals. The Direct Support Professional will support daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in an engaging, respectful, and empowering manner. Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of caregiving or related experience.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Smartphone required.
- Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with individuals who communicate through gestures, facial expressions, vocalizations, and modified signs.
- Experience with individuals requiring 24-hour care and 2:1 staffing.
- Experience with individuals with significant support needs, including mobility, transfers, and hygiene.
- Experience with individuals with behavioral health challenges.
- Experience with individuals with physical limitations and unsteady gaits.
- Experience with individuals with swallowing disorders and rapid eating tendencies.
- Experience with individuals who prefer consistent routines and minimal transitions.
- Experience with individuals who prefer familiar staff of a specific gender.
Responsibilities
- Support daily routines including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Assist clients in engaging with the community.
- Follow established care plans and client goals.
- Communicate effectively with families and the support team.
- Complete necessary notes and documentation.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times.
