About The Position

The Autism Treatment Center (ATC) is seeking to hire Direct Support Professionals for its Residential Treatment Centers due to growth. The mission of ATC is to assist individuals with autism and related disorders throughout their lives as they learn, play, work, and live in the community. This role involves providing direct care and support to consumers, ensuring their safety, well-being, and adherence to service plans.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of caregiving/direct patient care experience with references.
  • Valid Texas State Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
  • Reliable Transportation (Ride Shares and Public Transportation are not considered reliable forms of transportation).
  • Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and SAMA certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 Years of Age.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to work with individuals who display aggressive behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Autism Treatment Center Policies and Mental Health Procedures.
  • Assist in the training of personal care, communication, recreation, housekeeping, dietary needs, and assist in self-medication or administration of medications.
  • Support the implementation of the Consumer Service Plan through the coordination of services.
  • Complete documentation including: Medication Sheets, Incident Reports, Clinical Program Logs, Purchase Orders, Receipts, Medication Therapy Notes, Data Collection, Work Orders.
  • Act as a liaison between parent/guardian, community, and ATC.
  • Stay in the living area of the home with a light on during consumer sleeping hours.
  • Check/Supervise any consumer who gets out of bed.
  • Conduct and document rounds each night at minimum at 10:00 P.M., 12:00 A.M., 2:00 A.M., 4:00 A.M., and 6:00 A.M. (House Manager may require more frequent rounds).
  • Notify the House Manager of anything unusual.
  • Conduct special supervisions of consumers as required by medical orders, behavior programs, and/or the House Manager.
  • Complete special paperwork or other assignments made by the House Manager/Residential Coordinator.
  • Complete weekly documentation: Time Sheets, Certificates of Absence, Activity Schedules, and Fire Drills.
  • Attend meetings and/or training as scheduled or required.
  • Assure adequate supply of medications for consumers.
  • Utilize appropriate protective measures (Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures) due to potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or body tissues.
