About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in assisting and supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to meet their personal health, safety, and welfare needs. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, participating in household tasks like cleaning and cooking, administering medication, communicating effectively with staff and residents, transporting residents to various appointments and activities, and documenting services provided. The position also involves assisting with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
All offers of employment are contingent on the successful completion/passing of our criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test, etc.
All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting.

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate in and/or supervise cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services rendered.
Assist with community-based activities.
