The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting. Essential duties include assisting clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks such as showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, preparing and planning meals, and financial budgeting. Providing transportation to and from activities and appointments is also a key responsibility, requiring a valid Arkansas Driver's License. The role involves maintaining good communication between staff regarding clients' needs and progress, accurately completing all required documentation, and strictly following documentation and maintenance of records for FTA vehicles and Medicaid guidelines. This position is safety sensitive and requires reporting incidents and/or emergencies immediately. The DSP assists in the formulation, management, revision, and follow-through of the client’s Plan of Care, ensuring treatment is carried out and prioritizing health, safety, and security. They also follow proper medication management guidelines, organize recreational activities, and serve as a role model through appropriate physical appearance and actions, treating clients and families with dignity and respect. Maintenance of FCC facilities, grounds, and vehicles, including cleanliness and preventive maintenance, is expected. Attending necessary training and continuing education is required, along with providing proof of liability insurance and potentially undergoing periodic driving tests.
