About The Position

The Vocational Training Center (VTC) of Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join its CREATE Employment Services team. The role provides employment-related support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including individualized instruction and mentorship at community workplaces, assistance with job searches and employer outreach, and collaboration to support job placement and retention. The position also involves supervising small teams delivering contracted services to local businesses and working with employers and multi-agency teams to identify training needs and accommodations. This is a part-time position with shifts available seven days a week between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Paid training is provided, and the employee must complete a certificate with ND Direct Care Careers. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Current driver's license.
Use of a personal vehicle; mileage reimbursement is provided.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, in mental health, or in another related field.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized on-the-job instruction and mentorship to individuals working in the community.
Supervise teams of 2–3 people fulfilling contracted service requirements for local businesses.
Consult with employers to identify training needs that can improve an individual's performance.
Assist individuals with job searches and engage employers to secure potential job-placement opportunities.
Participate in multi-agency team meetings to evaluate and assess individuals and recommend accommodations to help them attain or retain employment.
Maintain flexibility and composure while working alone or in a team environment.
Complete the certificate with ND Direct Care Careers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
