About The Position

Family Relief Resources (FRR) is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide quality, person-centered daily care to individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. This role involves supporting clients in their homes and in the community, teaching essential life skills, and fostering social interaction. FRR offers a positive, stable, and well-compensated work environment for passionate DSPs, aiming to connect them with clients they are meant to help.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must pass a Criminal History Check.
  • Must work a minimum of 15 hours per month.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certificate (within 3 months of hire).
  • Must complete state-required online training courses (pre-hire and within 3 months of hire).
  • Must complete 24 hours of Continuing Education per year.
  • Basic knowledge of technology, including the ability to use a smartphone for timekeeping, submitting reports, and communication.
  • Direct experience working with children and/or adults with varying levels of support needs (including experience with intellectual and/or behavioral disabilities).
  • Understanding of requirements for maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding individual information.
  • Literate and capable of understanding written and oral orders.
  • Able to communicate with individuals, healthcare providers, case managers, and appropriate others.
  • Able to respond to emergency situations when services are being delivered.
  • Have a valid license and car with current insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Caring for a client on an individual basis in their home environment.
  • Taking clients out into the community to learn skills and socialize.
  • Teaching skills of independent living such as self-care, behavior management, budgeting, cooking, shopping, and cleaning.
  • Supporting behavior management.
  • Facilitating community involvement.
  • Assisting with meal preparation.
  • Supporting emotional regulation.
  • Assisting with medication and money management.
  • Supporting personal hygiene.
  • Assisting with routine/structure building.
  • Tracking client visits with GPS location verification via a smartphone app.
  • Providing transportation for clients as needed.
  • Creating and entering specific progress notes after each shift.
  • Submitting a quarterly progress report.
  • Maintaining a set schedule with clients.
  • Working independently and communicating effectively with clients' families and the agency.
  • Being patient, kind, and positive in all situations.
  • Adjusting to different types of personalities and disabilities.
