About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in ensuring the personal health, safety, and welfare of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the group homes. Responsibilities include assisting individuals with personal care, participating in household tasks, administering medication, communicating effectively, driving residents to appointments and community activities, and daily documentation of services provided. DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies in the United States dedicated to providing care for this population.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Successful completion/passing of criminal background check, reference check, DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined).

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills development.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services provided.
Assist with community-based activities.
