About The Position

Merakey is seeking a mission-driven, compassionate, and reliable Direct Support Professional to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The role focuses on helping individuals build independence, develop social and communication skills, and navigate daily living activities. The work includes serving as a mentor, coach, and advocate, and supporting personal goals through activities such as community engagement, outings, and daily care. No experience is required; paid training is provided. The position is 40 hours per week, with a rotating second-shift schedule from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The listed pay rate is $16.75 per hour, with the opportunity to earn up to $18.75 through an enhanced pay option.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must have a desire to help others reach their fullest potential.
No experience is required; paid training is provided.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Experience in a home health aide setting or a school setting working with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
Support life-skills development, including household tasks and social skills.
Provide community support and transportation.
Promote health, safety, and well-being, including medication support as trained.
Complete required documentation, progress notes, and service logs.
Help individuals build independence and develop social and communication skills.
Support individuals in achieving personal goals and participating in community activities.
