About The Position

Join Dungarvin's mission-driven team as a Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Supported Independent Living. You will work directly with individuals needing assistance, potentially those with intellectual or developmental disabilities or complex medical needs. Dungarvin has been dedicated to person-centered support since 1976, enabling people to live as independently as possible. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by supporting an individual in their own apartment, helping them maintain their home, engage in the community, manage appointments, prepare meals, and build independence. The position requires a daily physical check-in with the individual, 7 days a week, with flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM, totaling 22 hours per week. This is not a traditional group-home schedule, but rather an individualized support role focused on fostering independence.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing and able to use a personal vehicle to transport the person served.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have required personal automobile insurance.
  • Ability to meet Dungarvin's vehicle and insurance requirements.
  • Ability to use good judgment, follow guidance, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain consistent, quality support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and other members of the support team.
  • Comfortable using computer software and technology applications required for the position.
  • Must be able to physically check in with the person served every day, 7 days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous education and/or experience providing residential or support services to people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • A sincere desire to provide individualized support to people with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support based on the person's needs.
  • Help the individual maintain their home.
  • Support participation in the community.
  • Assist with managing appointments.
  • Assist with meal preparation.
  • Build independence with the individual.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of their home.
  • Assist with grocery shopping.
  • Accompany to community outings and activities.
  • Attend medical appointments with the individual.
  • Provide medication assistance.
  • Support daily living skills.
  • Complete brief in-person check-ins (approx. 20 minutes) to ensure well-being and provide support.
