About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (Residential) position is responsible for training, coaching, and supporting individuals to promote their independence and help them learn new skills. This role involves ensuring the highest level of independence for the individuals served.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year in human services or health care required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Clean motor vehicle background check
  • Clean Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services background check
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 100,000/300,000 liability insurance
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or in a group setting
  • Strong emphasis on Customer Service skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and use positive language
  • Ability to individualize supports needed for the individuals served
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals served on a daily basis
  • Ability to successfully complete the MOAB 1 and 2 trainings
  • Ability to successfully complete medication training if applicable
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and daily assignments

Responsibilities

  • Remaining on shift until adequate coverage is provided.
  • Consistent implementation of resident programming training, including daily living skills (bathing, dressing, meal preparation) and community access (shopping, leisure activities).
  • Providing transportation for residents in approved vehicles, and potentially in personal vehicles in emergencies.
  • Meeting all Residential Standards and Regulations.
  • Participating in the development of resident programs, Service Agreements, Behavior Programs, Strategies, and Client Centered Conferences.
  • Aiding in the general upkeep of the residence, furnishings, and equipment (yard work, cleaning, laundry).
  • Supervising residents' self-administration of medications and/or distributing and administering prescribed medications after completing training and certification.
  • Supervising residents' medical/evaluative appointments and accompanying residents to these appointments.
  • Maintaining appropriate record keeping and report writing, including Daily Logs, Goal and Objective documentation, Significant Event Reports, Accident Reports, and Behavior Programs.
  • Attending required meetings.
  • Reporting any pertinent client incidents or deviations from routine.
  • Completing and implementing behavior management programs and documenting interventions.
  • Ensuring resident hygiene and appropriate attire.
  • Other duties as assigned by the House Manager.
