About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to join their team as Direct Support Professionals (DSP) / Overnight Residential Counselors. DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting residents in group homes with their personal health, safety, and welfare. This includes helping with personal care such as bathing and toileting, participating in or supervising cleaning, cooking, and life skills development. You will also assist with medication administration, communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and residents, and drive residents to various appointments and activities using agency vehicles. Daily documentation of services provided and assisting with community-based activities are also key components of this role.

Requirements

  • Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help meet the personal health, safety, and welfare of the people living in the group home.
  • Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas (bathing/toileting).
  • Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills.
  • Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the individuals living in the homes.
  • Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
  • Provide daily documentation of services provided.
  • Assist with fun community-based activities.
