Position Summary The Flex Direct Support Professional (Flex DSP) is a cross-trained position responsible for providing direct support services to individuals receiving services through the Adult Developmental Vocational (ADV) Program, Day Support Program, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Program. This position is responsible for promoting independence, personal growth, community inclusion, vocational development, health, safety, and dignity through person-centered support. The Flex DSP provides services according to each participant’s Person-Centered Plan (PCP), Individual Support Plan (ISP), treatment goals, agency policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. The Flex DSP position is designed to provide flexibility, continuity of services, and adequate staffing across Neuse Enterprises programs. This position may be assigned to support any program based on participant needs and organizational requirements. We are currently seeking an on-call Flex Direct Support Professional to primarily support our Day Support Program. The current schedule for this position is as needed but the ideal candidates need to be available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. As a Flex DSP, the employee may be assigned to other NEI programs or schedules based on participant needs and organizational requirements. Compensation Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Valid Driver’s License (required if operating agency vehicles)
CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain and maintain certification
NCI certification, or willingness to obtain and maintain certification
Ability to pass criminal background and social services background checks
Reliable, patient, flexible, professional, and compassionate, with a genuine interest in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Comfortable adapting to different programs, participants, schedules, and environments based on organizational and participant needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision, assistance, and support to assigned participants.
Support participants in developing and maintaining daily living, functional, and independent living skills.
Facilitate meaningful activities based on participant interests, preferences, abilities, and goals.
Promote participant choice, independence, self-advocacy, and self-determination.
Support individual goals identified in each participant’s PCP, ISP, treatment plan, and other applicable service plans.
Encourage meaningful participation, socialization, community involvement, and inclusion.
Assist participants with personal, vocational, behavioral health, and community-based goals.
Promote opportunities for participants to build skills that increase independence at home and in the community.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment that promotes participant dignity and rights.
Assist with educational, recreational, vocational, and community-based activities.
Support community integration and meaningful participation in community activities and appointments.
Provide appropriate supervision during program activities, community outings, and other assigned activities.
Adapt to changing assignments, schedules, environments, and participant needs.
Provide support across NEI’s ADV, Day Support, and PSR programs as assigned. Assignment to a specific program or department is not guaranteed.
Complete daily service documentation accurately, thoroughly, and within required timeframes.
Document participant progress toward identified goals and services provided.
Maintain accurate attendance and service records.
Complete incident reports when required.
Complete Medicaid-compliant documentation, as applicable.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency requirements.
Report significant changes in participant needs, behavior, health, or functioning to the appropriate supervisor or qualified professional.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, coordinators, DSPs, and other members of the participant’s support team.
Maintain participant health, safety, and well-being at all times.
Maintain appropriate supervision of participants.
Follow established emergency, safety, behavioral support, and crisis intervention procedures.
Promptly report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, injuries, unsafe conditions, incidents, or other safety concerns in accordance with agency policy and applicable law.
Follow applicable HIPAA, OSHA, Medicaid, NC DHHS, Trillium Health Resources, CARF, and agency requirements.
Participate in required training and maintain required certifications.
Follow all agency policies, procedures, and program-specific requirements.
Maintain professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment in all interactions.
Transport participants in accordance with agency policies and applicable requirements.
Maintain participant supervision and safety during transportation.
Assist participants with community activities and appointments as assigned.
Follow all applicable vehicle and transportation safety requirements.
Immediately report vehicle accidents, incidents, or safety concerns.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing transportation and community support.
