About The Position

Imperial Base (IB) is searching for a new Direct Support Professional to help and guide a young man with disabilities on his journey to independence and adulthood. This young person has an adventurous spirit and with a little encouragement and a supportive team, can grow and experience different things in life. Learnability is a 245D licensed organization that offers home and community-based services for adults with disabilities. Our organization is committed to providing services that lead to a healthy lifestyle. We offer a new, integral approach to person-centered services. Our role is to support and encourage participants to come to their own conclusion regarding their careers, life choices and services.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (less than 3 moving violations in 3 years)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work in the united states

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
  • Collaborate with clients, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans based on the person's preferences, needs, and aspirations.
  • Support clients in engaging with their local community and participating in social, recreational, and vocational activities to enhance their social skills and independence.
  • Implement positive behavior management techniques and strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive interactions.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health status, ensuring timely communication with healthcare professionals and appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, daily activities, incidents, and any pertinent observations.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times, including being prepared to handle emergency situations effectively.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, supporting their inclusion and access to community resources and services.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance your knowledge and skills in disability support, communication techniques, and person-centered care.
