About The Position

Pueblo Diversified Industries (PDI) is seeking a Direct Support Professional I (DSP I) for a full-time, non-exempt position. This role is responsible for providing person-centered services to individuals served by PDI, including supervision, support, and implementation of individual service and support plans. The DSP I will ensure a safe and healthy environment for assigned individuals and maintain communication with PDI staff regarding individual needs. The Supported Community Connections (SCC) and Supported Living Services (SLS) programs focus on enabling individuals to lead meaningful lives in the community through personalized activities and support.

Requirements

• Must be age 21 or over.
• Must pass pre-employment testing and random screens.
• Must be computer-literate, comfortable with technology with well-developed oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to complete and pass First Aid, CPR, and other required training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and agree to a review of your motor vehicle record for addition to PDI’s authorized drivers list.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to clearly and legibly write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with people served and their support networks and co-workers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and Internet software.
• Ability to learn and gain proficiency in other software and applications used by PDI.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with the aid of an assistive device.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Assure that people served receive adequate and skillful support with activities of daily living (ADLs) and Instrumental ADLs, including basic ADLs (dressing, bathing, hygiene, self-feeding, toileting) and instrumental ADLs (taking medications, personal care, transferring, lifting, ensuring cleanliness).
• Organize and manage daily services for assigned people served, providing person-centered support and assisting with adaptive equipment.
• Organize, manage, and document daily services for an assigned group of people served, addressing capabilities such as attention span, social skills, physical recreation, and educational abilities.
• Monitor and assist people served with their specific needs.
• Network with the community for the best interests of PDI, the people it serves, and the stakeholders.
• Ensure that people served gain awareness of the community and its benefits to them.
• Drive a PDI vehicle on PDI business.
