About The Position

At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), our mission is rooted in empowering individuals and strengthening communities. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals. This is a part-time position with morning/after school hours, serving clients in Hampstead, NC, and surrounding areas, requiring local community travel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic housekeeping knowledge.
• Basic nutrition knowledge.
• Knowledge of safety protocols.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Entry-level experience is acceptable as on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Assist with personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers.
• Provide employment support.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize client schedules.
• Perform daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
