As a DSP/Personal Attendant, you will provide individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities receiving Supported Living Services. The primary focus of this role is the active supervision of individuals to ensure their health and safety, while providing occasional hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for individuals with complex needs. You will provide incidental behavioral prevention and intervention support, operate with increased independence, and be responsible for maintaining service quality and helping ensure a stable living environment.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency in implementing Individual Program Plan (IPP), Individual Service Plan (ISP) and BSPs.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to make discretionary decisions that prioritize individual safety and autonomy.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with families and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professional ethics, including punctual attendance.
  • Ability to provide care with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for personal values.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document observations accurately.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check and maintaining the following requirements throughout your tenure: Valid TB clearance. Valid CPR/First Aid certification. Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs is preferred.
  • Prior training in Safety Care or crisis intervention (e.g. CPI or equivalent) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centered supervision within the individual’s home and community.
  • Supervise and provide occasional hands-on support for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including: Bathing, toileting, dressing, and personal hygiene Preparing meals and feeding Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Supervise medication administration when needed.
  • Accompany and/or transport the individual to medical and personal appointments.
  • Implement established Behavior Support Plans (BSP) to prevent and de-escalate outbursts or mental health symptoms.
  • Apply crisis prevention and intervention techniques (e.g., Safety-Care or CPI) during severe episodes to ensure immediate safety.
  • Observe and report changes in health, behavior, and/or environments to the supervisor.
  • Complete daily logs and progress notes in compliance with DDS, Regional Center, and agency standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and other activities as needed.
