About The Position

Waystone is seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join their team in Haverhill, MA. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will provide essential support and companionship to individuals with daily activities in a residential home. This role involves assisting individuals with their activities of daily living (ADL’s) such as feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene assistance, documentation, and medication administration. You will also use a wheelchair van to transport individuals to appointments and community activities. For overnight shifts, you will be responsible for remaining alert, conducting wellness checks, and providing personal care support. The ideal candidate leads with empathy, patience, and reliability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistant/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Able and willing to assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans.
  • Responsible for transporting our individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support our individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation, as required.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individual’s rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining the program’s staff to resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
  • During the overnight hours, you will also be responsible for remaining alert and attentive, conducting routine wellness checks on individuals, and providing personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed.
