About The Position

Waystone is seeking a compassionate, dependable person to join their team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). This role involves providing essential support and companionship to individuals in a residential home setting, assisting them with daily activities. The position is located in Haverhill, MA, and current openings are for full-time schedules (40 hours per week). This is a benefit-eligible position as of the date of hire. The hourly rate is $21.00, and employees will be union members of SEIU Local 509. The role involves assisting 4 individuals, aged 22 and up, with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, documentation, and medication administration. Transportation of individuals using a wheelchair van to appointments and community activities is also a responsibility. During overnight hours, staff must remain alert, conduct wellness checks, and provide personal care support, including toileting and brief changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistant/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individual’s rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain the program’s staff to resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Remain alert and attentive during overnight hours.
  • Conduct routine wellness checks on individuals during overnight hours.
  • Provide personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed during overnight hours.
