About The Position
Empowered Services is seeking an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to provide engaging, one-on-one support for an active and creative young individual. This role is ideal for someone who is energetic, organized, and enjoys building meaningful relationships while supporting independence, communication, and community involvement. The individual being supported is bright, artistic, and highly engaging, thriving on creativity, connection, and movement. He has a strong memory, enjoys music, and loves expressing himself through art and social interaction. He enjoys outdoor activities, music, church activities, community outings, familiar routines, structured schedules, and specific interests like Spelling 2 Communicate, Veggie Tales, and water-related content. He does best with predictable routines, visual supports, clear communication, a calm and patient approach, regular movement breaks, and a proactive provider. Key Responsibilities include providing one-on-one caregiving and behavioral support in home and community settings, assisting with ADLs, creating and following structured routines and visual schedules, supporting community engagement and recreational activities, encouraging communication, independence, and skill-building, providing supervision for safety, and collaborating with team members and documenting progress.
Requirements
- Passion for helping others and building meaningful connections
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance
- Ability to pass a background check
- Comfortable supporting personal care needs (ADLs)
Nice To Haves
- Experience in caregiving, DSP, behavioral support, or IDD services preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one caregiving and behavioral support in home and community settings
- Assist with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility
- Create and follow structured daily routines and visual schedules
- Support community engagement and recreational activities
- Encourage communication, independence, and skill-building
- Provide supervision (visual/sound awareness) to ensure safety
- Collaborate with team members and document progress as needed
