About The Position

Empowered Services is a one-on-one attendant care agency providing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support and community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in their own homes. Our mission is to support individuals in building independence, engaging in their communities, and living meaningful, self-directed lives. Schedule Monday & Wednesday: 2:20 PM – 6:20 PM Pickup from Chemeketa Community College (McMinnville campus) Position Overview We are hiring an Independent Living Support Specialist (DSP) to provide 1:1 community-based support for a young adult in the McMinnville area. In this role, you will: Provide transportation and after-school support Support structured routines and goal-oriented activities Encourage independence and social engagement Provide calm, consistent, and respectful support This position is ideal for someone who is patient, organized, and confident using structured communication approaches . About the Individual You’ll Support You will be supporting a young adult who: Enjoys basketball, video games, writing stories, acting, and learning about history Is thoughtful, caring, and goal-oriented Has strong communication skills and values respectful interaction Benefits from clear plans, visual supports, and a “first, then” approach Responds best to calm, low-toned communication and structured routines May need time and space to process information and re-engage socially This role is a great fit for someone who can provide structured, steady support while encouraging independence and confidence .

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, education, or behavioral support
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD
  • Familiarity with structured communication strategies or visual supports
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities
