About The Position

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individual with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal homes. Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care. Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms. Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping. Support staff is needed to support a woman with Rett Syndrome in the Pikesville area. Assistance is needed with personal care tasks and spending time in the community. Help is needed with lifts, transfers, and mobility. The individual enjoys spending time outside and visiting various places in the community, and swimming. Communication is non-verbal, using facial expressions, sounds, and gestures. Assistive technology will be used to help improve communication. Patience and kindness are needed when the individual is crying and the reason is unclear.

Requirements

  • High school degree/GED.
  • Current driver’s license with less than three points on driving record.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Must use personal vehicles to provide transportation within the community.
  • Must use a personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation.

Responsibilities
