About The Position

The Arc Carroll County is hiring compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one personal supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This part-time evening position offers a flexible schedule with some daytime hours available, starting at 3:00 PM. The role involves providing community-based or in-home support, including transportation and facilitating engaging activities tailored to individual interests and goals. DSPs will encourage independence, assist with personal care as needed, and document services and progress.

Requirements

• 18+ years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with 2+ years driving experience
• Ability to pass background, drug, and driving record checks
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Ability to complete required training courses, including CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification, and other DDA-mandated training
• Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 lbs frequently and assist with transfers
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing
• Ability to assist with wheelchair handling, transfers, and securing individuals safely in vehicles

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one community-based or in-home support
• Provide transportation and support community access
• Create and implement innovative, fun, and meaningful activities tailored to each individual’s interests, goals, and abilities
• Support individuals individually and independently, encouraging choice, creativity, and self-direction through social, recreational, and educational activities
• Encourage independence and decision-making
• Assist with personal care and mobility as needed
• Document services and progress in iCare
• Follow person-centered plans, policies, and state regulations
