About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is hiring a Full-Time Direct Care Associate to support adults living with serious mental illness in our Regional Supervised Housing Program. This is a meaningful opportunity to help individuals build stability, strengthen daily living skills, and work toward greater independence in a supportive residential setting. In this role, you will work overnight to ensure residents are safe, supported, and following their individualized service plans. You will be part of a team that focuses on recovery, respect, and helping individuals remain successfully in the community. About the Program The Regional Supervised Housing Program supports adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. The goal is to reduce hospitalizations and help individuals live as independently as possible with the right level of structure and support.

Requirements

At least one (1) year of experience supporting adults with serious mental illness
Valid driver's license required
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

Provide supervision and support to residents in a residential mental health setting
Assist with daily living needs and promote independent living skills
Monitor resident wellbeing, behavior, and overall progress
Document observations and complete required shift notes
Respond to resident needs and support a safe, structured environment
Communicate with your team to ensure continuity of care
Maintain confidentiality and uphold client rights at all times
