About The Position

Dungarvin is a mission-driven team dedicated to providing person-centered support services that enable individuals, particularly those with intellectual or developmental disabilities or complex medical needs, to live as independently as possible. This role involves working directly with individuals in a residential group home setting to assist them in achieving various outcomes, including personal care and community integration. The company offers paid training and orientation, and no prior experience is required for the general DSP role if basic job requirements are met. A specialized Behavioral DSP role is also available for candidates with experience in managing intense behaviors.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Successful background clearance.
  • Good reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served.
  • Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical (for Behavioral DSP role).
  • Patient, good decision-making, and crisis-management skills (for Behavioral DSP role).
  • Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred (for Behavioral DSP role).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities or related experience.
  • Certifications & trainings (CBRF, CNA, CPR, etc.) are appreciated but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist people with disabilities in achieving a variety of outcomes within a residential group home.
  • Assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration.
  • Provide support and mentorship with daily activities, including helping with meals, cleaning, performing housekeeping, laundry duties, and facilitating fun activities.
  • Provide hands-on mentoring to help individuals become more independent.
  • Offer positive direction to individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
  • Administer medication and ensure the person's medical well-being.
  • Provide support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those faced with mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges (for Behavioral DSP role).
  • Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
