About The Position

The Family Supports Program serves individuals with Autism who do not have intellectual disabilities. We are seeking dependable, energetic, and compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide individualized and group respite services. Staff will support participants in developing social, recreational, and independent living skills while promoting community inclusion, personal growth, and safety. Available Positions: One-to-One (1:1) Direct Support Staff & Group Respite Staff. Schedules vary based on participant needs and program activities.

Requirements

Minimum age of 18 years.
Ability to participate in community-based activities and meet the physical requirements of the position.
Dependable, responsible, and professional.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience working with individuals with Autism or related human services experience preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record preferred.
Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
Creative and engaging approach to community activities.

Commitment to supporting participant choice, independence, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized support to participants in community settings.
Plan and participate in recreational and social activities based on participants' interests. Activities may include: Bowling, Movies, Dining out, Sporting events, Shopping, Visiting community attractions, Exploring personal interests and hobbies.
Assist participants in developing skills that promote independence, self-confidence, decision-making, and community engagement.
Foster positive social interactions and appropriate community behavior.
Work collaboratively with program staff to supervise and support participants during group outings and activities.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.
Encourage participation and engagement in recreational and social activities.
Model appropriate behavior and positive social interactions in community settings.
Support participants in building friendships, communication skills, and confidence.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
Follow all agency policies, procedures, and participant support plans.
Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and team members.
Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold the rights and dignity of all participants.
Make a meaningful difference by helping individuals with Autism build confidence, develop relationships, explore their interests, and become active members of their community.
