Direct Support/Driver Hybrid
About The Position
This is a hybrid position that supports both the Transportation department and our Tobyhanna Day Program. Devereux Pocono Center provides programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support/Driver for Devereux, you will have variety in your responsibilities. Responsibilities of this role include providing safe transportation for Pocono Center individuals, being responsible for their supervision and seeing that their physical, emotional and personal needs are met, assisting in hygiene tasks such as showering or toileting, and supporting individuals throughout their daily routine, including joining them in community outings. You will also attend in-service training programs to develop skills and perform related duties, special assignments, and projects as assigned by the coordinator.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required
- One (1) year preferred of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model
- Must be able to complete required new hire orientation class
- Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs
- Possess a valid license
- Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing
- Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 50 lbs. or more
- Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision
- Occasional use of computers and office equipment
- Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes
- Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches
Nice To Haves
- Earn an additional $0.29/hr if you have an active CNA
- $1/hr increase to base pay with an active NADSP Level 1 Certification
Responsibilities
- Provide safe transportation for Pocono Center individuals
