About The Position

This is a hybrid position that supports both the Transportation department and our Tobyhanna Day Program. Devereux Pocono Center provides programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support/Driver for Devereux, you will have variety in your role. Responsibilities include providing safe transportation for Pocono Center individuals, being responsible for their supervision and ensuring their physical, emotional, and personal needs are met. You will also assist in hygiene tasks such as showering or toileting, support individuals throughout their daily routine, including joining them in community outings, and attend in-service training programs to develop skills. Related duties, special assignments, and projects as assigned by the coordinator will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year preferred of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to complete required new hire orientation class.
  • Possess a valid license.
  • Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision.
  • Occasional use of computers and office equipment.
  • Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes.
  • Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

  • Earn an additional $1/hr increase to base pay with an active NADSP Level 1 Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transportation for Pocono Center individuals
