About The Position

The Direct Labor - Field Services Operator role involves ensuring the correct operation and goal achievement of various programs, including Flammable Gas Analysis (FGA) and Gas Generation Testing (GGT). The operator will perform assigned duties such as running samples, conducting independent technical reviews, and submitting records. A key responsibility is the maintenance of instruments to support operations. The role also includes conducting sampling and filter change-outs on waste containers, analyzing headspace gas samples using Agilent GC/MS, and generating batch data reports (BDRs). Daily verification of procedures, documents, and measuring and test equipment (M&TE) is required, along with supporting the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of instruments, including calibrations. Keeping training up-to-date and supporting other sites as requested are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail while performing all work functions, especially BDR’s and all paperwork.
  • Ability to be procedural compliant, including following procedures verbatim.
  • Knowledge of equipment and processes.
  • Possess problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • When applicable, ability to perform radiological work that requires use of a respirator.
  • Strong team mentality with dependability (punctual and minimal absences).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Required Host site and procedural training, including any required certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • SME/OJT – Subject Matter Expert / On-the-Job Trainer for the following areas: FGA, HSG (Summa), Filter Change-Out.
  • Prefer Chemist, Math, Engineering degree and/or experience.
  • Department of Energy (DOE) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure NFT remains a valuable asset to the customer by strong performance and appropriate communication via following the chain of command with NFT and Host site/CCP.
  • Conduct sampling and filter change-out on waste containers.
  • Analyze headspace gas samples on Agilent GC/MS.
  • Generate batch data reports (BDR’s) that require a review of the BDR as an independent technical reviewer (ITR) in an accurate, precise, and timely manner.
  • Daily verification of all procedures, documents, and M&TE (measuring and test equipment).
  • Support maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of instruments, including calibrations.
  • Keep training up to date.
  • Support other sites as requested.
