About The Position

The Direct Care Staff provides a supportive residential environment for individuals with mental health and substance abuse histories in community-based group homes in Torrington and New Hartford, Connecticut. Staff build supportive relationships with clients and help them grow and live as independently as possible, while supporting their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery.

The role includes providing direct services to clients in a group home, supporting activities of daily living, monitoring clients' self-administered medication, advocating for clients in community settings, and providing informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus. The role is suited to candidates who want to work with people experiencing mental illness, substance abuse struggles, or both.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Registered and insured vehicle available for work purposes.
• Approved criminal background and driving check.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
