About The Position

Direct Care Professionals are responsible for teaching skills in the areas of daily functioning, self-care, and home management with the clients. Work with clients in the assigned Supervised Group Living Home with administrative assistance and clinical intervention available 24 hours daily. Employee shall function in compliance with all organizational policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency required
  • Competency to teach and demonstrate day-to-day living skills to adult clients.
  • Has or be willing to obtain CPR Certification.
  • Have and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance upon demand.
  • Able to work variable work hours to accommodate specific staffing needs.
  • Must have sight and hearing to be able to observe client behavior and communicate with clients; must have own automobile to drive to and be ambulatory to visit the clients in their home, when necessary, which may involve climbing stairs.
  • Patience and empathy with the ability to accept clients at their level of functioning.
  • Able to uphold professional standards as a representative of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented competence in understanding severe and persistent mental illnesses and establishing therapeutic communication and interactions preferred.
